HC Deb 26 June 1995 vol 262 c467W
Mr. Worthington

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress has been made in reducing the number of refugees in Zaire. [29506]

Mr. Baldry

The Government of Rwanda estimate 478,812 refugees have already returned from Zaire. The international community is working to encourage further voluntary refugee repatriation. Improved security in the camps has reduced intimidation. The United Nations High Commissioners for Refugees are considering resuming organised convoys to meet a growing refugee interest in repatriation.
