Intramural studies include work on musculoskeletal disorders in supermarket check-out workers, and techniques for assessing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders, both of which encompass ULDs.
437WExtramural research includes work on a user performance test method to support international visual display unit ergonomic standards; an ongoing epidemiological and ergonomic study of occupational factors associated with upper limb soft tissue disorders in keyboard operators; an ongoing project to assess the health and safety implications of virtual reality systems; and two projects to collect ergonomic case studies giving employers practical advice on ways of preventing ULDs which were published last October in the booklet "A pain in your workplace?"
