Mr. Lewis

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects the construction of the Manchester airport rail link, southern spur to be completed and available for train operation. [30618]

The expected completion date is 15 November 1995 and the spur will be available for traffic from 20 November 1995.

Mr. Lewis

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the deadline for bids to operate on the Manchester airport link, southern spur in order to meet the requirements for inclusion in the May 1996 public timetable. [30550]

It is 11 August 1995.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if a specification bid for the operation of services on the Manchester airport link, southern spur has been accepted by Railtrack plc; and what track access charges have been agreed. [30549]

I understand that no bid has yet been accepted by Railtrack and no access charges have been agreed.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what level of service he expects to be operated over the Manchester airport rail link, southern spur from May 1996; which destinations will be covered; and which train operators will be involved. [30551]

Commercial negotiations are still under way on these issues.
