To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the average cost of a hip replacement operation undertaken in Powys; and if he will make a statement. [29057]

Hip replacement operations are not undertaken within Powys. The service for residents of Powys is purchased from several hospitals in England and Wales.

Information on treatment costs in contracts is not held centrally. Tariffs for treatment outside of contracts are published. Of the published tariffs specifically for hip replacements procedures, the average is £3,466.
