HC Deb 22 June 1995 vol 262 c405W
Mr. Fraser

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his Department's current policy in respect of the resolution adopted on 1 June 1993 by the European Council under the headings "Resolution on certain common guide-lines as regards the admission of particularly vulnerable groups of persons from the former Yugoslavia". [29652]

Mr. Nicholas Baker

The Government have agreed to receive 1,000 particularly vulnerable individuals and their close dependants from the former Yugoslavia. As at 20 June, 866 principals and 1,177 dependants had arrived. None of these people will be required to return to the former Yugoslavia until it is safe to do so.

In addition, the Government are maintaining their previously announced policy of not requiring nationals of the former Yugoslavia to return to areas of active conflict.
