HC Deb 22 June 1995 vol 262 c395W
Sir Michael Neubert

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of recent exercises in co-ordinated action against crime by the Metropolitan and county police forces. [29106]

Mr. Maclean

I would like to congratulate the forces which participated in the co-ordinated operation on 2 May against those involved in burglary; officers from 22 forces across the south of England and Wales searched 1,828 addresses, made over 1,300 arrests and recovered large quantities of stolen property.

I fully support police operations that send a clear message to criminals, and their victims, that effective action is being taken against crime.
