§ Mr. Nicholas BakerUnder section 29 of the Immigration Act 1971 the Government fund a small humanitarian programme that provides for limited assistance to be given to non-British citizens who wish to return to their countries of origin but who lack sufficient means to do so. British citizens born overseas who wish to return to their countries of origin to settle may, in certain circumstances, renounce their British citizenship, and become eligible to receive assistance from the programme.
