To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what targets have been set for the Central Office of Information in 1995–96. [29536]

Mr. Horam

The Central Office of Information has five key targets for the 1995–96 financial year. They are:

  1. (i) to break even in modified historical cost terms after recovering all costs, including interest on borrowings;
  2. (ii) to achieve a 3 per cent. reduction in unit cost of output in real terms, while maintaining suitable levels of quality;
  3. (iii) to equal or better the proportion of work delivered in accordance with client specification during 1994–95;
  4. (iv) to equal or better the proportion of work delivered on time during 1994–95; and
  5. (v) to achieve an average score of 7.9 out of 10 for the COI customer satisfaction index.
