HC Deb 14 June 1995 vol 261 c537W
Mr. Fatchett

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list for 1992–93, 1993–94 and 1994–95, the occasions on which his Department has sought prior approval for the sale of assets in accordance with the Treasury guidelines on the disposal of surplus Government land; and if he will make a statement. [28393]

Mr. Soames

In the years in question prior Treasury approval for the sale of surplus land belonging to my Department in the United Kingdom was sought in relation to the following sites: 1992–93 land at Dean Row road, Wilmslow; 1993–94—central vehicle depot, Hilton and Ordnance Survey depot, Ruddington; 1994–95—the Queen Elizabeth military hospital, Greenwich.

Mr. Fatchett

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what clause in the sale contract allowing his Department to obtain a share of any future development gain were included in the sale of(a) RAF base Chessington, Surrey to a consortium involving Bryant Homes and Sir Alfred McAlpine, (b) Willems Park, Aldershot to Tesco plc, (c) Bramley, Hampshire, to Wimpey and (d) RNAD Milford Haven to Waterfront Development, Pembroke. [28395]

Mr. Soames

The contract for the sale of Royal Naval armament depot, Milford Haven does not include a clawback arrangement. Each of the other contracts referred to required the purchaser to pay a lump sum for the property at the time of purchase together with one or more further payments in the event that planning permission was secured which would increase the value of the site. The specific details in each case are commercial in confidence between my Department and the purchaser.
