HC Deb 12 June 1995 vol 261 c416W
Mr. McNamara

To ask the Secretary of State for Education if the Government's proposals to privatise the administration of the teachers pension fund will require secondary legislation. [28153]

Mr. Robin Squire

Before a contractor could administer the teachers superannuation scheme, secondary legislation would be needed to delegate functions of administration to the contractor.

We have made it clear that we shall let a contractor only if it would provide better value for money than keeping the administration of the teachers superannuation scheme in the public sector.
