To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on his latest estimate of the cost of local government reorganisation in Wales. [27540]

[holding answer 9 June 1995]: The costs of reorganisation will decided primarily by local government itself.

I decide how much to allocate towards local government reorganisation costs in the light of estimates submitted by local authorities in Wales. The public expenditure statement sets out the grant and capital provision available.
