§ Mr. Eggar[holding answer 25 May 1995]: Governmental approval was given to the CEGB in January 1978 and capital sanctions for Heysham 2 were approved by the CEGB in 1981. Checks made by Nuclear Electric, CEGB's successor company, have revealed no record of European Commission funding for this project.
