HC Deb 06 June 1995 vol 261 c100W
Ms Hodge

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what policy and procedures exist for dealing with complaints against his Department by members of the public; when the policy was last updated; what time limit and target for dealing with such complaints his Department has; and what follow-up procedure exists where complainants are not satisfied with his Department's response to a complaint. [26223]

Miss Widdecombe

Complaints procedures are set out in individual statements of service standards published by organisations with the Employment Department group which provide services to the public. The main such statements, the date at which they were last updated and the nature of the follow-up procedures where complainants are not satisfied are as follows:

the area (a) for each of his Department's regions and (b) nationally. [26502]

Mr. Paice

At 26 March 1995, over 1,453 employers in England were recognised as Investors in People. Of these, 446 were companies with over 200 employees; 1,007 with under 200 employees. In excess of 16,000 further employers are committed to achieving IiP status.

The percentage of organisations with over 200 employees in England recognised as IiP is 6 per cent. of the target groups agreed with training and enterprise councils. The regional breakdown is shown in the following table:

Region Per cent.

East Midlands 7
London 2
Merseyside 7
North East 8
