HL Deb 20 July 1995 vol 566 cc47-8WA
Lord Burnham

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will consult the French Government about reports that there have been no cases of illness among French servicemen who served in the Gulf in 1990 and 1991 and to confirm that no French Servicemen took NAPS tablets against biological and chemical warfare before or during that campaign.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Earl Howe)

My department has liaised with the French authorities throughout our investigation of the alleged Gulf War Syndrome. The French authorities confirm that there have been no reported cases of unexplained illness such as the alleged syndrome among French servicemen who served in the Gulf and that their personnel were not issued with Nerve Agent Pretreatment set tablets before or during the conflict.
