§ Mr. SoamesThe Swansea symposium is being held in association with the NATO committee on the challenges of modern society and will provide an opportunity for NATO and former Warsaw pact countries to exchange information and views about environmental problems arising from defence-related activities. My Department will play a key role in the symposium, but representation has not been finalised. In addition to keynote addresses, papers by Ministry of Defence staff will be presented in the planned technical sessions on pollution prevention, low flying, information technology in defence land management, military land use issues, environmental assessment of defence activities and environmental training.
