HC Deb 19 July 1995 vol 263 c1320W
Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what action he proposes to take against the captain of the Northern Cruiser for sailing on 17 May. [34862]

Mr. Norris

This is an operational matter for the Marine Safety Agency. I have asked the chief executive to write to the hon. Member.

Letter from R. M. Bradley to Mr. Tony Banks, dated 19 July 1995: The Secretary of State for Transport has asked me to reply to your question about the NORTHERN CRUISER. The NORTHERN CRUISER was inspected by surveyors from the Marine Safety Agency (MSA) on 10 January 1995 and detained due to a defective rescue boat. She was released on the same day after the deficiency had been rectified. I am not aware of a reason for the MSA to take action against the captain of the NORTHERN CRUISER for sailing on 17 May 1995.
