HC Deb 19 July 1995 vol 263 cc1458-9W
Mr. Stephen Timms

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage how many national lottery tickets are sold each week from outlets in the London borough of Newham. [35882]

Mr. Sproat

While this is an operational matter for the director general of the National Lottery, I understand that the information requested is not available.

Mr. Timms

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage (1) what proportion of applications for national lottery funding have come from areas of social and economic deprivation; and what plans she has to encourage such applications; [35120]

(2) pursuant to the reply of 26 June to the hon. Member for Great Grimsby, Official Report, column 495, if she will analyse by category and region the applications for national lottery funding. [35218]

Mr. Sproat

Information relating to applications for national lottery funding is not held by this Department. A list of all awards made and project locations was placed in the Library of the House on 26 June. A similar report will be produced and placed in the Library of the House every month.

Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage (1) if she will make a statement on the use of national lottery money for financing developments in the state sector, with particular reference to sport in schools; [36119]

(2) how much money has been provided by the lottery fund to date to provide public facilities in deprived areas. [36225]

Mr. Sproat

I regret that it has not been possible to provide an answer before summer recess. I shall therefore write to the hon. Member and place a copy of the letter in the Library.

Mr. Timms

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage, how many grants of national lottery funding have been made to date to applicants from the London borough of Newham; how much money was awarded in each case; and what proportion of the total amount of grants these grants represent. [35881]

Mr. Sproat

I regret that it has not been possible to provide an answer before the summer recess. I shall therefore write to the hon. Member and place a copy of the letter in the Library.

Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage how much money will be distributed to good causes from the national lottery in 1995; how much will go to(a) England, (b) Wales, (c) Scotland and (d) Northern Ireland; how much is not geographically identifiable; and if she will make a statement. [34944]

Mr. Sproat

The amount distributed to good causes from the proceeds of the national lottery is dependent on the number and quality of the applications put to the eleven distributing bodies.
