HC Deb 19 July 1995 vol 263 c1558W
Mr. Darling

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what representations his Department has received from Lloyd's of London in connection with proposed amendments to the Lloyd's Act 1982; and if he will make a statement. [35678]

Mr. Nelson

I have received no formal proposals, but the chairman of Lloyd's has from time to time suggested that it would be helpful to the evolution of Lloyd's if future chairmen could be selected from a wider pool than the working community at Lloyd's. Such a change would require an amendment to the private Lloyd's Act 1982 and would be for Lloyd's itself to promote.
