The Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department, has asked me to reply to the above Question about the maximum travel times for litigants.There is no maximum time limit for how long litigants can be expected to travel to a county court. However, this is taken into account, along with a number of other factors, when consideration is given to where a court is best located. These factors include, for example, the availability of public transport, the level of workload likely to be generated in a particular location and the cost of providing appropriate facilities for court users.
