To ask the President of the Board of Trade how many of the inspectors' reports published since 1988 have been critical of Ernst and Young and its constituents; and what action he has taken against the firm or its partners. [35097]

Since 1988 there have been six inspectors' reports published which have been critical of chartered accountants Ernst and Young or its constituents. A copy of each report has been passed to the Institute of Chartered Accountants for it to consider the conduct of its members.
