HL Deb 19 July 1995 vol 566 c32WA
Lord Braine of Wheatley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will introduce legislation to permit a defence of self-preservation for persons accused of murder.

Baroness Blatch

The law already provides defences of self-defence, provocation and diminished responsibility to a charge of murder. We are not persuaded of the need to add to these a defence of self-preservation.
