To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the research studies commissioned by his Department in the 1980s and 1990s on the relationship between low household disposal income and rates of serious criminal offences; and if he will make a statement. [34482]

No such studies have been commissioned by the Department, although questions relating to household income are included in the "British Crime Survey". Reports of the "British Crime Survey", the latest being the 1992 British crime survey, Home Office research study No.132, are in the Library.
