To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to the Government of the Chinese People's Republic on the arrest of Mr. Harry Wu; and if he will make a statement. [34839]

Mr. Harry Wu is a United States citizen, and the US Government are in contact with the Chinese authorities about his arrest. We share American concern about this case and hope that Mr. Wu will soon be released.

We are in discussion with European Union partners and the United States about the next steps.
