Mr. Llwyd

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what was the number of jobs created or safeguarded by inward investment in each year since 1992–93; and if he will make a statement. [35009]

According to figures notified to my Department's Invest in Britain Bureau, for the financial years from 1992–93 to 1994–95, the number of jobs created or safeguarded by inward investment projects are as follows:

These figures are based on information provided by companies at the time of the announcement of the decision to invest, and take no account of subsequent developments.

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what proportion of inward investment into(a) the United Kingdom and (b) Wales comes from the USA; and if he will make a statement. [34957]

According to figures notified to my Department's Invest in Britain Bureau, for the financial year 1994–95, there were 434 inward investment decisions to locate in the UK, of which 212–48.8 per cent.—were from the USA with Wales's share of USA projects being 25–11.7 per cent. These figures are based on information provided by companies at the time of the announcement of the decision to invest, and take no account of subsequent developments.

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what proportion of total inward investment into the United Kingdom went to Wales in each year since 1992–93; and if he will make a statement. [34948]

According to figures notified to my Department's Invest in Britain Bureau, for the financial years 1992–93 to 1994–95 the proportion of inward investment decisions that went to Wales are as follows:
