HC Deb 18 July 1995 vol 263 cc1206-7W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what contribution in percentage terms(a) the fishing industry, (b) agriculture, (c) catering, (d) food and drink distribution and (e) food and drink manufacturing make to the Welsh GDP; and if he will make a statement. [34964]

Mr. Gwilym Jones

In 1993 agriculture accounted for 2 per cent. of Welsh GDP according to estimates from the Central Statistical Office. The latest available data for food, drink and tobacco manufacturing are for 1992, when these industries accounted for 2.7 per cent. of Welsh GDP. Equivalent information for fishing catering, and food and drink distribution is not available.
