To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many unfair dismissal cases were brought against his Department during the last 12 months; how many were successful; and what were the total costs including legal fees and compensation. [34584]

Four applications to an industrial tribunal on the grounds of unfair dismissal have been brought against this Department within the last 12 months. Two are pending. Two were withdrawn by the applicants, one of which was on terms providing £1,000 compensation as part of an agreed settlement. No external legal fees have been paid.
