HC Deb 14 July 1995 vol 263 cc811-2W
Mr. Ian McCartney

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many unfair dismissal cases were brought against his Department during the last 12 months; how many were successful; and what were the total costs including legal fees and compensation. [34590]

Sir Paul Beresford

During the past 12 months four cases of unfair dismissal were heard by the Civil Service Appeal Board. The board found for the Department in every case. No compensation was paid and no legal fees were incurred.

The Health and Safety Executive became part of the Department on 4 July. No unfair dismissal cases have been brought against it in the past 12 months.
