Mr. Milburn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his answer of 10 July at column440, on tendering, (1) if he will estimate the total value of contracts under (a) market testing and (b) compulsory competitive tendering; [34382]

(2) how many contracts have been notified under (a) market testing and (b) compulsory competitive tendering; and what has been their value. [34380]

The total value of the 3,927 NHS service contracts currently logged on the NHS executive market testing database is £964 million. Of these 1,404 contracts were for catering, laundry and domestic services, with a contract value of £694 million.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his answer of 10 July at column440, on tendering if he will place in the Library a copy of all contracts notified to the NHS executive. [34381]
