§ Mrs. BrowningThe Government have a substantial annual surveillance programme for pesticide residues in a wide range of foodstuffs, including fruit and vegetables. The results are published annually in the report of the working party on pesticide residues. In the most recent report, no residues were found in 66 per cent. of all samples and the maximum permissible residue was exceeded in only 1 per cent. of samples. The residues found had no implications for human health.
