§ Mr. EggarThe committee was formed in February 1995 to encourage the UK steel industry and other Government Departments to bring forward information which might point to the existence of illegal subsidies. A good deal of background information has been collected, and discussed with the Commission, including information about Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Irish cases.
