§ Mrs. RocheTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what were the legal costs of his Department in each of the last five years for claims of wrongful dismissal. [32097]
§ Mr. Freeman[holding answer 3 July 1995]: The information requested is not held centrally. The legal costs of wrongful dismissals could be provided only from records in the Treasury Solicitor's department, once my Department had identified all such cases to them. This could only be done at disproportionate cost and could cover only the last three years, since before that date the Treasury Solicitor did not charge Departments for his services. If the hon. Lady wishes to write to my noble Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence with details of the particular category of information is needed, my noble Friend will be happy to consider the matter further.
