§ Mr. Nigel GriffithsTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) what charge is currently made to spouses for photographs of graves of United Kingdom service men and women killed in action in the far east; and if he will make it his policy that his Department covers or waives the charge made to spouses for such photographs; [31413]
(2) he will commission an inquiry into the charges made to the spouses of service men and women killed in action in the far east for photographs of the graves of such service personnel. [31414]
§ Mr. SoamesAlthough my Department does not charge the spouses of service men and women killed in action for photographs of the graves, we understand that the Commonwealth War Graves Commission does charge a nominal fee for such photographs. As an independent body created by royal charter and funded by the Commonwealth countries for which it maintains war graves, this is a matter for the commission.
