146Woverseas investors. It is also worth nothing that based on information supplied at the time of the announcements, 36,876 new jobs are expected to be created—an increase of 8,149 over last year's new jobs total.
Those results provide strong evidence that, despite ever increasing competition from elsewhere in the European Union, the UK has retained its No. 1 place in Europe for attracting inward investment. This success reflects the attractiveness of the competitive business environment which exists today, in the UK.
The results are also an indication of the successful partnership between the IBB and the many public and private sector bodies involved in the promotion of inward investment at home and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in existing and emerging markets abroad.
