HL Deb 26 January 1995 vol 560 cc94-5WA
Lord Thurlow

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Mental Health Task Force has issued an overview report on the way purchasers and providers of mental health services are approaching the replacement of the large mental hospitals, and drawing out good practice, following its visits to health authorities last year; and, if not, when a report may be expected.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health (Baroness Cumberlege)

The Mental Health Task Force has issued a series of reports and guidance on good practice in the reprovision of mental health services. These includeLocal Systems of Support: A Framework for Purchasing for People with Severe Mental Health Problems (published in October 1994), a handbook on managing fixed costs in reprovision, Transitional Costs: The Case for Better Management (December 1994), and the report of the Task Force London Project, Mental Health in London: Priorities for Action (September 1994), copies of which are available in the Library. A final overview report on the task force's work will be submitted to Ministers shortly."
