HL Deb 25 January 1995 vol 560 c83WA
Lord Beaumont of Whitley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps are being taken to prevent further destruction of the United Kingdom's national tree heritage from trenching in the light of the figures revealed by the recent survey in the London Borough of Havering.

The Minister of State, Department of the Environment (Viscount Ullswater)

The Department of the Environment has been working with the National Joint Utilities Group, the Cable Communications Association and the arboricultural industry to produce general guidelines on how to minimise damage to trees by utilities, and to utilities by trees.
