To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the Northern Ireland economy.

The Northern Ireland economy has performed well over the last year. Employees in employment in Northern Ireland rose by 1.2 per cent. in the year ending September 1994. Unemployment, seasonally adjusted, fell by 7.7 per cent. in the year ending November 1994. In addition, the output of Northern Ireland manufacturing industry expanded by 4.4 per cent. between the second quarter of 1993 and the second quarter of 1994.
