To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he has to put the River Thames to better use for residents and tourists.

I shall shortly publish the report of the study of the Thames that I announced last year. This will be followed in the spring by draft strategic planning guidance for the Thames, on which I shall consult widely. The report and guidance will give encouragement to maximising the use of the river and the valuable resources it offers for resident and tourist alike.
