To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what strategies he is currently promoting to tackle drug problems in Blyth valley; and if he will make it his policy to introduce further measures.

The Government's overall strategy for tackling drug misuse is aimed at reducing the supply of and demand for drugs throughout the United Kingdom. From 1 April, the area covered by the local drugs prevention team in Newcastle is being extended to the whole of Northumberland and Tyne and Wear, including Blyth valley.
