Mr. Byers

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many staff in her Department have reported an offer of employment from an outside employer since February 1993 as required under the civil service management code; and how many of these reports were followed by an application to join the company concerned.

Mr. Sackville

Information about more junior staff is not held centrally. Since February 1993, there have been two reports of job offers from staff in grade 3 and above. So far, one of these has been followed by an application under the business appointments procedure.
