HL Deb 18 January 1995 vol 560 c41WA
Lord Beaumont of Whitley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What tests they intend carrying out on BST (bovine somatotropin) milk and for what purposes.

The Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Earl Howe)

BST is a natural hormone produced naturally by cows and is present in all cow's milk. On the basis of the scientific evidence and advice currently available, BST in milk poses no hazard to human health. In those circumstances the Government has no plans to carry out any tests on BST milk.
