Mr. Alex Carlile

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will make it his policy to review the law of intellectual property in the United Kingdom following the decision of the High Court of Justice that Chiron Corporation of California has intellectual ownership of the virus HPC; and if he will make a statement.

There is no reason to review existing patent law following the High Court decision in the Chiron case. The law is designed to encourage research
