To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give a definite date for the appointment of a chief executive of the National Lotteries Board; when charities will be given the opportunity to apply for funds; and what process will be used to decide on distribution.

Mr. Nicholas Baker

These are all matters for the National Lottery Charities Board. The board announced on 20 December the appointment, as its chief executive, of Mr. Timothy Hornsby, currently chief executive of the royal borough of Kingston upon Thames.

I understand that he will be taking up post at the end of March.
