HC Deb 10 January 1995 vol 252 cc118-9W
Mr. Trotter

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will make it her policy that the system of regulation imposed by the Medicines Act 1968 will be maintained to ensure that medicines are not marketed without a product licence.

Mr. Sackville

From 12 January this year, no medicinal product for human use, unless specifically exempt from licensing, may be placed on the market in the United Kingdom except in accordance with a licence issued by the United Kingdom Licensing Authority under the Medicines for Human Use (Marketing Authorisations Etc.) Regulations 1994 or the Medicines Act 1968, or, in a small number of cases, an authorisation issued by the European Commission.
