HC Deb 10 January 1995 vol 252 cc98-9W
Mr. Battle

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many families who bought a home in the last two years included(a) one, (b) two and (c) three or more earners.

Mr. Robert B. Jones

The available estimates are of numbers of households in England with two or more people in them who in 1993–94 had bought a home in the previous two years. Of these, 230,000 had one person in employment, 720,000 had two persons in employment and 80,000 had three or more persons in employment. There were also 290,000 purchasers who were one person households and were in employment.

These figures are from the "Survey of English Housing" and are subject to sampling error.
