HL Deb 27 February 1995 vol 561 c83WA
The Earl of Bradford

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What amounts in Corporation Tax have been paid by Japanese manufacturing companies, currently operating in Britain, for the last five years.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Defence (Lord Henley)

Mainstream and advance corporation tax paid by United Kingdom manufacturing subsidiaries and branches of Japanese companies is estimated to be:

£ million
1989–90 80
1990–91 90
1991–92 50
1992–93 40
1993–94 30

The decline in payments has occurred at the same time as profitability of all companies has been affected by recession.
