§ Sir Hector MonroThe disposal of dredge spoil at sea is licensed by the Scottish Office Agriculture and Fisheries Department under part H of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985. It is a condition of licensing that samples are provided to the Department's marine laboratory at Aberdeen. These are analysed for a range of substances to enable the Department to check that the spoil being disposed of conforms to agreed international standards with respect to the levels of contamination.
