To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if he will bring forward proposals to authorise the increase in the television licence fee.

Regulations to bring into force from 1 April the new fees which I announced on 1 December of £86.50 for a colour licence and £28.50 for a black and white licence—Official Report, column 805, will be laid before the House at the beginning of March.
