HC Deb 16 February 1995 vol 254 c770W
Mr. Home Robertson

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list the Sheriff court houses in Scotland which do not satisfy the objectives set out in the justice charter for Scotland in respect of(a) accessibility for disabled people, (b) adequate and comfortable accommodation, (c) refreshment facilities and (d) services for defence witnesses and lawyers.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

Work is currently being undertaken to establish an independent assessment of the facilities provided in Sheriff court houses against the aims and objectives set out in the justice charter for Scotland. In recent years, a major programme of capital investment amounting to some £20 million per annum has been undertaken to improve facilities by providing new and refurbished court accommodation and this programme of work continues.
