§ Mr. PendryTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what sums were raised by the off-course levy collected by the Horseracing Betting Levy Board in 1993 and 1994; and what sums were collected via the 0.25 per cent. duty reduction available to horseracing over the same periods.
§ Mr. Michael ForsythThe yield for the 32nd levy scheme was £51.6 million; figures for the previous two schemes were £46.9 million—31st levy scheme—and £36 million—30th scheme. The amount made available to the horseracing industry from the reduction in general betting duty in 1992 is not calculated centrally. The effect of the reduction was taken into account in determining the structure of the 31st levy scheme and in subsequent levy settlements.
