To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department, pursuant to his answer of 17 January,Official Report, column 376, how many appointments to public positions have been made by his Department in the last year.

Mr. John M. Taylor
In the last year, 244 new appointments were made to the public bodies for which the Lord Chancellor has ministerial responsibility. This does not include re-appointments or judicial appointments.
